Preiļi Municipality Men's Vocal Ensemble Wins First Place in the Final of the Latvian Vocal Ensemble Competition

On 14 May 2016, the final of the Latvian Vocal Ensemble Competition took place at the Baloži City Culture Centre in Ķekava Municipality. Among 38 ensembles, the best female, male, mixed, senior and semi-professional vocal ensembles were determined.

First place in the men's vocal ensemble category, with 46.00 points, was awarded to the men's vocal ensemble of the Preiļi Municipality Culture Centre /conductor Alberts Vucāns/.

Second place went to the independent musical group Dižbrāļi from Jēkabpils /Anita Cinkmane/, while

third place went to the men's vocal ensemble of the Stabulnieki Culture Centre /Dainis Skutelis/.

The Latvian Vocal Ensemble Competition takes place between the Latvian Song and Dance Festivals. This national-level competition helps assess the situation in the vocal ensemble movement. Female, male, mixed, senior and semi-professional vocal ensembles participate in it. The Latvian Vocal Ensemble Competition is organised by the Latvian National Centre for Culture and the Latvian Vocal Ensemble Association in cooperation with municipal authorities.
