Exhibition of "Purvīša Prize" nominees.
The Purvīša Prize was established in 2008 with the aim of regularly and systematically recognizing current events and evaluating the outstanding achievements in professional visual art in Latvia, promoting the intensity of the Latvian art process, the development of new projects and original ideas, and popularizing the creative successes of Latvian artists both within and outside our country's borders. This prize is awarded every two years to an artist (or a group of artists) whose works stand out in the Latvian art scene with artistic value, connection to their time, or something else - each work is unique and each exhibition requires a different approach. The Purvīša Prize is the largest award in the field of visual art in Latvia, and just a few years ago, a nomination for a lifelong contribution to art was introduced, which this year will be received by textile artist Edīte Pauls-Vīgnere. As can be seen, the art for which this prize can be awarded is very diverse.
