Rainis Museum “Jasmuiža” Begins Its Season

On 29 April, the Rainis Museum “Jasmuiža” began its 53rd season. Various activities took place at the museum that day. The award ceremony concluding the visual and plastic arts competition “Dog and Cat” was attended by the competition’s laureates and participants. The museum director and jury representatives presented awards to and congratulated the competition laureates, and an exhibition of the competition entries was opened. It will be on display until the end of the season, 31 October.
This season, various activities are planned at “Jasmuiža”. On 14 May, the museum will take part in Lauku Ceļotājs’ “Open Days in the Countryside” initiative and offer visitors the opportunity to make their own wax candle. On 21 May, as part of Museum Night, the Rudzāti theatre troupe “Okūts” will perform the comedy “Being Neighbours”. In August, a ceramics kiln will be fired and opened, and the “Latgale Traditional Culture and Crafts Festival at Jasmuiža” will take place (part of the Latgale cultural programme supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation and Latvijas valsts meži), along with other activities in September and October.
This season, the museum is introducing several new features. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch the video film “Rainis. Aspazija. Laikarits”, and we will also offer tablets with an informative guide.
