Construction of the skate park has begun in Rēzekne Culture and Recreation Park
With the arrival of spring weather, construction work is proceeding at full pace in the Culture and Recreation Park – the construction of a monolithic concrete skate park has just begun, replacing the existing wooden skate park.
We draw the attention of Rēzekne residents and city visitors whose hobby is sports and spending their free time at the skate park: the skate park is closed to visitors until mid-May and is being renovated so that, already in May, residents of Rēzekne can enjoy skating at an entirely different level. At present, there is a fence around the skate park area.
Very soon, residents of Rēzekne and city visitors will be able to appreciate the advantages of the new, modern concrete skate park, whose paved area will cover 686 m2. As Krista Freiberga, project manager at the Urban Environment and Development Administration, explained, the skate park’s reinforced-concrete structure will be supplemented with concrete-surface areas and urban elements that will enrich the skate park’s configuration. Individual benches, information signs, charging stations and waste bins are planned for the area. The total cost of constructing the skate park and improving the adjacent area is €178,000; part of the expenses will be covered by the municipality, while another part is a donation from the state-owned company “Latvijas valsts meži”.
The wooden skate park’s ramps and elements are currently being taken for technical maintenance so that, in improved form, they can delight the residents of Rēzekne at another location in the city.
Let us remind you that the reconstruction of the Culture and Recreation Park has been divided into several stages. The younger residents of Rēzekne have already appreciated the new, stylish wooden attractions in the children’s playground, which were also installed in the park thanks to cooperation with the state-owned company “Latvijas valsts meži” and are intended for children aged 2 to 12. In response to requests from park visitors – parents with children – a sandbox will also be installed in the park very soon, in the area closer to the stage, where the children’s playground with blue attractions is located.
The third stage involves constructing a cycling track and installing outdoor exercise equipment in the area of the former dance floor/car park. Active work will resume there in the near future, and is planned to be completed by the end of May. Thus, our city park will welcome the summer fully renovated and will become an even more popular place for meetings, walks with children and active sports for all residents of Rēzekne and city visitors, regardless of age.
