"Riga Around the Corner"
As Gatis Šļūka says, "a walk with a camera is like a kind of hunting or fishing; you never know what awaits around the corner, maybe a catch or a big haul – a 'delicious' shot."
Gatis has enjoyed photographing since his childhood and teenage years, and, of course, drawing as well. He believes that photography and drawing complement each other; drawings are mostly created at his drawing table, while photos are taken on the move, allowing him to stretch his legs and clear his mind.
Gatis also acknowledges that photography is, in fact, a form of drawing, as the word "photography" originates from Greek and means "drawing with light."
The photographs in the exhibition reveal Riga, the pulse of the city, with unexpected surprises from different viewpoints and in various weather conditions. They convey an atmosphere created by fog, sunlight with dark clouds, colorful evening skies, or other elements.
The exhibition opening is on February 13 at 6:00 PM.
See you at the museum!
