The 14th season of the “Betsafe Latvian Strongman Championship” will conclude with a super final in Riga

On Saturday, 9 September, in Riga, in the square by the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, the super final of the 14th season of the “Betsafe Latvian Strongman Championship” will take place during “Riga Sports Night”; it will be the final event of this season.

Since June, Latvia’s strongest men have travelled to many locations across the country. They have completed six rounds of the regular championship, a strongman competition and a record-setting event. This weekend, all the best athletes will meet in the capital to compete in the super final, after which this season’s champion will be known.

As always, the competition promises to be extremely close, with unprecedented tension and intense emotions prevailing at the venue, as several very strong athletes will contend for the winner’s trophy this year. The season leader, Artis Plivda, and his closest rival, last year’s strongest man in Latvia, Aivars Šmaukstelis, will demonstrate their strength and ability. Jānis Šleckus, who won the fifth round of the “Betsafe Latvian Strongman Championship” in Ventspils, will add to the competition. Didzis Zariņš, Otomārs Skreija, Magnuss Vucāns, Edgars Andersons and Oskars Martužans will also take part in the contest.

At 16:00, the competition for the title of the 2017 “Betsafe Latvian Strongman Championship” winner will begin in the square by the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia. The athletes will have to complete eight events in total: pulling a 17-tonne “Latvijas Nafta” tanker, holding a “Nippon Auto” car, squats with a “Husqvarna” rider mower, the “RERE GRUPA” relay, lifting a “FerratumBank” safe, the “Darba Drošības centrs” clock, the “Labietis” beer combination and “Betsafe” Atlas stones.
