RIGA FLY-IN 2015
On 11 July, the “RIGA FLY-IN 2015” aviation festival took place.
At Spilve Aerodrome, at 12:00, demonstration flights were performed by helicopters of the National Armed Forces and the Border Guard. Visitors could enter one of the helicopters. They had the opportunity to see the cockpit and control panel, as well as various devices used during flights.
Because of the cloudy and windy weather, the organisers expressed doubts that demonstration flights would be possible. However, around one o’clock the skies cleared, and Latvia’s best pilots demonstrated high-level aerobatics.
The Spilve airport building is currently closed to visitors, but it is promised that it will soon be renovated and an aviation museum will be opened there.
