Stages 27 and 28 of the first round of the CSDD Young Road Users Forum competition took place in Riga.
CSDD’s young cyclists’ competition for the city of Riga and the Riga region has concluded
On 22 May 2015, stages 27 and 28 of the first round of the CSDD Young Road Users Forum competition took place in Riga. Young cyclists from schools in the city of Riga and the Riga region competed for victory.
The Riga region was represented by 12 teams in this competition, while the city of Riga was represented by one team. In the overall standings, 865 points and the right to compete in the Latvian final were won by the “Baložu vidusskola I” team: Jānis Stepanovs, Kristaps Cīrulis, Rainers Grass, Anete Katrīna Breikša, Sanija Klaka and Ulrika Garisone; teachers – Andris Žilko and Lauma Žilko. It should be noted that this team has earned the most points not only in this competition but also in all the 2015 Young Road Users Forum competitions held so far.
The city of Riga will be represented in the Latvian final by team “B” of Riga Centre Humanitarian Secondary School: Pēteris Jurģis Lējējs, Mārtiņš Pumpurs, Toms Ustups, Laura Belohvoščika, Luīze Macijauska and Paula Pērkone; teachers – Līga Spuriņa and Inga Fokrote.
During the competition, the students demonstrated their theoretical knowledge of traffic regulations, first aid and the technical construction of bicycles; they also had to complete rides on two courses.

1st place: team “B” from Riga Centre Humanitarian Secondary School, 338 points.

2nd place: team “Baložu vidusskola II” from Baloži Secondary School, 725 points;
3rd place: team “Ādaži – 5e” from Ādaži Secondary School, 499 points;
4th place: team “Ādaži – 5b4d” from Ādaži Secondary School, 471 points;
5th place: team “Ādaži – 4d” from Ādaži Secondary School, 447 points;
6th place: team “Ašie, brašie Ropažnieki” from Ropaži Secondary School, 423 points;
7th place: team “Ādaži – 5ceg” from Ādaži Secondary School, 388 points;
8th place: team “Ādaži – 5d” from Ādaži Secondary School, 365 points;
9th place: team “Ādaži – 5ac” from Ādaži Secondary School, 361 points;
10th place: team “Kustīgie Lustīgie” from Zvejniekciems Secondary School, 343 points;
11th place: team “Ādaži – 4a” from Ādaži Secondary School, 319 points;
12th place: team “Ādaži – R” from Ādaži Secondary School, 316 points.
CSDD has been organising the Young Road Users Forum competition throughout Latvia for 22 years, aiming to interest young road users in road safety and promote safety on the roads. As usual, the competition takes place in three rounds, the first of which are held in various regions of Latvia from 10 April to 27 May. The next competitions are scheduled as follows:
Monday, 25 May, at 11:00 a.m., at Rēzekne Secondary School No. 5; teams from the city of Rēzekne and schools in the Viļāni and Rēzekne municipalities are invited to participate;
Tuesday, 26 May, at 11:00 a.m., at Ludza Recreation Park; teams from schools in the Kārsava, Ludza, Zilupe and Cibla municipalities are invited to participate;
Wednesday, 27 May, at 11:00 a.m., at the Gulbene City Stadium; teams from schools in Gulbene Municipality are invited to participate.
The second round of the “Young Road Users Forum 2015” – the Latvian final – is scheduled for 5–6 June and will be attended by the teams that achieved the highest scores in the first-round competitions in their respective regions. The third round, or the European Young Road Users Competition, will take place in Vienna, Austria, from 3–6 September, with the winning team of the Latvian final participating.
To participate in the competition, students must have been born in 2003–2005, form a team of six people – three girls and three boys, choose a team name and complete the electronic application form on the website http://www.berniem.csdd.lv/index.php/satiksmes-drosiba/reg/konkursi. Participation of the team in the competition must be agreed with a teacher or another adult, and participants must bring a signed school confirmation of the participation of the particular team and students in the Young Road Users Forum. Each team must be accompanied to the competition by one or two adults – teachers or parents.

The Young Road Users Forum is organised by CSDD.
