"Rīga Plaza" improves its car park usage procedures

Starting in August, the "Rīga Plaza" shopping and entertainment centre will introduce a digital car park management system based on automatic vehicle licence plate recognition technology. The solution will be provided by the car park operator “Snabb”, making parking more convenient and straightforward for shopping centre visitors.

"Rīga Plaza" is one of the largest shopping centres in Latvia, with approximately 1,500 parking spaces. The aim of the newly introduced system is to improve parking availability for the centre’s customers by preventing situations in which spaces are occupied for long periods by vehicles not associated with visits to the centre.

The licence plate recognition cameras installed in the car park will automatically record vehicles entering and leaving, meaning that drivers will no longer need to use a parking disc or complete additional registration. Every "Rīga Plaza" visitor will have four hours of free parking, while those who need to stay longer will be able to conveniently extend their parking time for a fee in the “Snabb” or “Mobilly” mobile app.
