This year, Riga’s best companies were selected and honoured at the “Riga Thaler ’21” event celebrating Riga’s entrepreneurs. The “Riga Employer of the Year” award was won by Latvijas Mobilais Telefons.
There is no doubt that Latvijas Mobilais Telefons is a highly sought-after and beloved brand. At the awards ceremony, Līga Meņģelsone, Director General of the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia, also emphasised that Latvijas Mobilais Telefons is a company that takes exceptional care of its employees, is socially responsible, and always participates in the country’s most important development processes.

This is the first “Riga Thaler” awarded to Latvijas Mobilais Telefons, and it was earned in a highly significant category. In response to a question about what it means for the company to be responsible towards its employees, the company’s president, Juris Binde, said:“Responsibility is mutual. It applies both to the employer towards its employees and to the employees towards the employer.”

Juris Binde is convinced that Riga, as Latvia’s capital and an important transport hub, is a place where business must thrive. He acknowledges that high value-added products, which do not require large production facilities or heavy engineering equipment, are particularly important today. “Here, within an area of just a few square kilometres, more than 4,000 information technology specialists work and create products,” said the LMT president, noting that the development of technology-company districts is highly important for Riga’s further growth.
