“Rīgas ūdens” resumes flushing the capital’s water-supply network
This week, the municipal company “Rīgas ūdens” is resuming the scheduled flushing of the capital’s water-supply network, beginning with Mikus and Liedes streets in Šampēteris. In total, 118.5 kilometres of water-supply network are scheduled to be flushed this year.
In April, May and June, flushing will take place mainly in the Šampēteris and Pleskodāle neighbourhoods; in July and August, in Āgenskalns; and in September and October, in Torņakalns.
In 2020, 181.2 kilometres of water-supply networks were flushed in Riga, with most of the work carried out in Zolitūde, Šampēteris, Zasulauks, Dzirciems and Imanta. Equipped with specialised flushing machinery, the water-supply network flushing teams flushed 166 kilometres of network as part of the scheduled programme. In addition, responding promptly to customer complaints, the Water-Supply Network Localisation Teams carried out flushing through fire hydrants using the traditional method, thereby flushing approximately 15.2 kilometres of water-supply network.
Since the scheduled water-supply network flushing programme began in 2016, approximately 43% of all water-supply networks in Riga have been flushed. Their total length is 1,482 kilometres.
