Sabile’s 2019 Tourism Guide Published

The Sabile Tourism Information Centre has prepared a new publication for the new tourism season—a guide providing information about tourism attractions in Sabile and its surrounding area. The cover features the Wine Hill and grapes, which are an identifying symbol of Sabile and are also depicted on the town’s coat of arms.

This year, the guide has been published in A5 format and includes two maps: a map of Sabile and a map of Abava Parish.

Farm Drubazas_Sabile_wine tastingsThe publication brings together information about wine and cider-tasting opportunities, which are of greatest interest to visitors to Sabile. They are offered by Drubazas farm, the Abava winery farm, Sabile Cider Brewery and Sabile Cider House.

Small Sabile also offers several museums, craftspeople, active-recreation and nature-tourism attractions. Of particular note are the attractions included in the guide for the first time, such as Sabile’s “Picture Gallery” on Rīgas Street, created by Sabile’s “Sarades Namiņš” with the support of the Talsi District Foundation.

The “Rausis” leisure centre is also a new addition to the guide. It is located by the “Līkais Krodzinieks” spring, where travelling families from other districts as well can leave their preschool-age children for a while in a safe environment under supervision, while, for example, the adults go to taste cider or wine produced in the Sabile area.

After the major life challenge of the fire, the creative house “Sarade” continues operating with the strong support of the local community. During this tourism season, its industrious and creative people will offer adventure excursions in Sabile; travellers will be informed about the details as the summer season approaches.

This year’s addition to the active-recreation section of Sabile’s guide is also tandem paragliding over Sabile, offering romantic and unforgettable experiences, as well as kayak, canoe and SUP-board rental in Sabile, allowing visitors to discover and explore the bends of the Abava River more closely.

Travellers are, of course, also welcomed by several tourism attractions and activities in Sabile that have already gained popularity, such as the Pedvāle Open-Air Art Park, a place for the creative expression of artist Ojārs Feldbergs; the Wooden Toy Museum lovingly created by Andris Millers; jeweller Harijs Jaunzems’ workshop; a ride on a motorised raft along the Abava; and other activities.

Families with children will also enjoy several of the activities mentioned above, as well as the botanical trail and the rope course across the Abava at Drubazas, the “Fairy-Tale Forest” play trail near Plostkrogs, and the toboggan run and buggy rides at the Zviedru Cepure leisure complex.
