Home quarantine period shortened for close contacts
The home quarantine period has been shortened to seven days (previously 10).
Home quarantine has been cancelled for vaccinated residents who have received their primary vaccination with a two-dose vaccine no more than five months ago or a single dose of the "Janssen" vaccine no more than two months ago, as well as for people who have received a booster vaccination or have a valid certificate of recovery.
In accordance with the European Commission’s decision of 22 February that a Covid-19 certificate of recovery may be issued on the basis of a positive rapid antigen test, residents in Latvia will also be able to receive a certificate of recovery from 7 March, if the rapid antigen test was carried out at a healthcare institution or pharmacy and administered by a healthcare professional, pharmacist or another person specified in the regulations.
The amendments also stipulate that Ukrainian citizens and their family members will not be required to present a vaccination, recovery or testing certificate, or a test result, before entering Latvia. Ukrainian residents without certificates will be able to receive services in the safe environment by presenting an identity document issued by Ukraine. It has already been reported that Ukrainian citizens in Latvia will be able to receive all state-funded healthcare services available to Latvian residents.
