Before the start of the active tourism season, the first of six training seminars will take place on 20 April for entrepreneurs involved in tourism, as well as employees of municipalities and other organisations involved in promoting tourism in Latvia’s coastal areas.

The aim of the first seminar is to increase the added value of existing tourism offerings and create new ones, in order to establish coastal areas as outstanding places to live, work and visit throughout the year.

The seminar “Creating Added Value for Your Offering” is designed as a CREATIVE WORKSHOP and will take place in the form of a Zoom webinar (10:00–15:30). During the webinar, answers will be found to important questions about the concept of “added value” (What determines the value of a product? What are the categories of value propositions, and how can they be understood? Which comes first—the customer or the product?), as well as about the use of modern technological opportunities (How can entrepreneurs adapt and transform in today’s digital age?). Working both individually and in teams, participants will be encouraged to generate ideas and explore possibilities: When does the “off-season” become a season? What is the coastal entrepreneur’s “unique code” as an integral part of a complete profile? What can be done to avoid becoming boring? How can we reinvent ourselves and the world? How can ordinary things be used in extraordinary ways? Which coastal entrepreneurs’ creative endeavours inspire and captivate? And so on.

The webinar lecturer, V. Brakovska (MBA), is a generator and tester of ideas, a facilitator of individuals’ entrepreneurial abilities, and a lecturer with nearly 15 years of international experience in promoting creative thinking, innovation culture and social entrepreneurship (in the business, social, cultural and educational fields) across all levels of education and in the public and private sectors. She is also the founder and director of the association “Knowledge and Innovation Society” (ZINIS). As Vita puts it: “No one is IRREPLACEABLE, but everyone can become UNREPEATABLE.” This is precisely what she will help everyone participating in this webinar to feel and understand, so that in a rapidly changing world each person can create their own distinctive value proposition.

All six planned training events are organised under the European Union’s European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) and the measure “Cooperation Measures” of the Operational Programme for the Development of Fisheries, within the project “SEA ALL YEAR ROUND—Promoting Coastal Lifestyle Tourism” (project No. 20-00-F043.0442-000002). Alongside the series of training seminars, the project’s lead partner, the association “Jūras Zeme”, in cooperation with five project partners, will also implement POP-UP activities entitled “Let’s Go and Participate!” in each partner’s area, as well as the digital communications campaign “Sea All Year Round” in the coastal areas of all project partners.

The webinar is free of charge, but registration is mandatory by completing the application form at this link: https://tinyurl.com/xkxj5kh4

As a result of the procurement procedure, M.Env.Sc. Marika Rudzīte-Griķe has been engaged to provide capacity-building activities. Together with her team and sector experts, she will organise three Zoom webinars in the spring and three seminars (or webinars) in the autumn.
