Maija's native place is the village of Vāne in the Tukums region. Although she excelled in drawing during her school years, Maija pursued a very practical professional education, graduating from the Bulduri Horticultural Technical School's ornamental gardening department. However, life's paths are varied, and Maija spent 32 years as the head of the Krimūni parish post office.
Starting to paint was a long-held dream. When art teacher Aija Prince established her art studio “AIJA,” Maija went there to develop her childhood talent. Her first painting was created in 2014. She also had the opportunity to enhance her skills in the USA with artist Virginia Contarellas. "Painting is like entering another world, freeing your soul from daily worries and problems," says the artist. The exhibition features landscapes, still lifes, and portraits.
