Europe’s leading manufacturer of public transport vehicles, “Škoda Transportation”, presented a new and innovative passenger bus this summer—the nine-metre-long Škoda D’CITY, powered by a diesel engine, as indicated by the letter D in its name. The bus is equipped with an automatic transmission, enabling it to reach speeds of up to 100 km/h. It is also the smallest bus with this type of propulsion in the expanded product range of the widely recognised Czech manufacturer.

The Škoda D’CITY is equipped with a Cummins ISBE engine with an output of 182 kW, meaning that the new bus also complies with the currently most stringent Euro 6 standard. Its dimensions are optimal for navigating city streets: the bus is only slightly over three metres high (3132 mm), 2400 mm wide and 9536 mm long. The vehicle’s interior is spacious, and when placing an order, operators can determine the number of seats themselves—from 30 to 36—according to their needs, or customise the configuration of the doors and equipment. The bus is also equipped with air conditioning, a reversing camera and an independent 32 kW heating system.

“Our new Škoda D’CITY city bus offers all the safety and comfort features that meet the most modern standards. It is an optimal solution for urban and intercity transport. Passengers will certainly appreciate not only its spacious interior and comfortable equipment, but also the ease of boarding and alighting. In addition, the bus has a kneeling function at every stop, and its equipment also includes a fold-out ramp for people with reduced mobility,” says Martin Schlosser, Road Vehicles Sales Manager at “Škoda Electric”.

“This year, we are significantly expanding “Škoda Transportation”’s product range with new diesel buses. We have listened to our customers’ wishes in developing public transport solutions that are economically advantageous and ensure comfortable travel. We now offer a complete range of road vehicles for urban, suburban, intercity and touring transport—from trolleybuses and electric buses to economical diesel-powered buses. Alongside the new D’CITY city bus, we also offer the D’INTERCITY intercity bus and the D’COACH touring bus. In addition, in February our group completed the delivery of the first electric buses manufactured by us to the Prague Public Transit Company, and we are currently in negotiations with other European countries as well,” Martin Schlosser adds.

“Škoda Electric”, a company belonging to the “Škoda Transportation” group, is Europe’s largest trolleybus manufacturer. During its existence, the group has already supplied more than 14,500 of these vehicles to domestic and foreign markets. Czech trolleybuses currently operate in more than 30 countries across Europe, Asia and North America.
