Strongman Zāģeris Achieves the Best Result of His Career!
Last weekend, the final Strongman Champions League event of the year took place in Antalya, Turkey, where Latvia’s representative Dainis Zāģeris (33) won the silver medal. He finished the season in an impressive second place overall.
The field assembled for the final event of the season was a strong one. It included Poland’s Krzysztof Radzikowski, Jean-François Caron of Canada, Bjorn Solvang of Norway, Matjaž Belšak of Slovenia, Lithuanian Marius Lalas, Alex Moenen of the Netherlands, and others.
Poland’s Krzysztof Radzikowski won the overall 2015 Strongman Champions League standings. Dainis Zāģeris stood on the second-highest step of the podium. This is the best result of his career and a rapid rise as an athlete. Jean-François Caron of Canada finished third.
“This year has been very intense and difficult, but overall I am very satisfied with what I have accomplished—the goal set at the beginning of the season has been exceeded. I won three events (in Latvia, Romania, and Martinique) and have stood on the podium quite a few times overall. Now I will take a little rest and slowly begin preparing for the next stage. I need to recover from my injuries, work on certain exercises, and raise the bar even higher,” the athlete says resolutely.
Strongman Dainis Zāģeris made his debut in the world’s strongest men’s league in 2013. He finished fourth, a high result, for two years, and this year he finished second. Zāģeris has matched the achievement of strongman Agris Kazeļņiks. In 2010, he finished third in the Strongman Champions League final in Ukraine, but second in the overall standings.
