Students of Jelgava City Municipality sports schools will be exempt from participation fees during the state of emergency. The relief will apply from November.

On 17 December, the Jelgava City Council approved amendments to Jelgava City Municipality binding regulations No. 13-3 of 31 January 2013, “Participation Fees for Education at Jelgava City Municipality Professional-Oriented Education Institutions”. The amendments provide for students of Jelgava City Municipality professional-oriented education institutions who are declared residents of Jelgava to be exempt from participation fees during the state of emergency. Consequently, students whose declared place of residence is within the administrative territory of Jelgava City will be exempt from the participation fee automatically. To receive the relief, however, students whose declared place of residence is outside the administrative territory of Jelgava must have their parents apply to the relevant sports school.

“For sports school students whose participation fee for November has already been paid, the payment will automatically be carried forward to the period when the state of emergency ends and classes resume at the sports schools,” adds Juris Kaminskis, director of the Jelgava City Municipality institution “Sports Service Centre”.

The participation fee relief applies to students of the Jelgava Specialised Swimming School, Jelgava Children and Youth Sports School, and Jelgava Ice Sports School.
