Staicele Celebrated the City's Birthday with a Festive Concert

On 26 January, residents of Staicele and their guests gathered at the Staicele Culture Centre to celebrate the 27th birthday of their city. Those present looked back through photographs at the most memorable birthday moments of previous years. Inga Indriksone and Jautrīte Pelēkā, members of the Staicele Culture Centre's amateur theatre group “Fabrika” (led by Aira Lapkovska), helped them view the photographs with a touch of humour.

The celebrations were enriched by the Staicele Culture Centre's children's dance groups “Stazele” and “Stazelīte” (led by Inga Konrāde), the ensemble “Vēlreiz” (led by Līga Siliņa), students of the Staicele Music and Art School, and the ladies of “Grandmothers' Aerobics” (led by Ārija Bakmane). The concert programme was also joined by the Aloja Culture Centre's middle-generation dance group “Sānsolis” and youth dance group “Resgaļi” (led by Ričards Jerāns).

Those present were addressed by Pēteris Kuzmenko, head of the Staicele City and Parish Administration. At the end of the concert, the people of Staicele sang the anthem of Staicele, enjoyed a festive cake and a spectacular fireworks display, and later danced the evening away at a lively celebration ball with the band “Zelta Kniede”.
