“Stipro Skrējiens 2026” is approaching – the sporting adventure returns to Cinevilla once again
Next month, on 2 May, the Cinevilla film town will welcome large numbers of active recreation enthusiasts and thrill-seekers as it once again hosts the traditional “Stipro Skrējiens”. One of Latvia’s best-known obstacle races is returning this year with renewed energy, offering participants not only a physical test of endurance but also an unforgettable adventure lasting throughout the day.
“Stipro Skrējiens” was first held in 2010 on the 333 track, and over time it has become an annual tradition for many advocates of an active lifestyle. Since 2025, the sporting event has once again taken place at its historic home in Cinevilla, Tukums Municipality, whose unique setting gives the race a special atmosphere by combining outdoor sport with elements of the world of cinema. The race course leads through film sets, pavilions and various historic filming locations, including Rūdolfs’ Farmstead and the Semigallian Castle from the film “The Pagan King”.
This year, too, the organisers have prepared various surprises – the dynamic course will be supplemented with exciting obstacles, and participants will face both physical challenges and technical tests requiring endurance, agility and courage. One of the most impressive new features of the competition will be the “Optibet Stipro kalns” – a formidable obstacle that will become a true test even for the most seasoned runners. Activities intended for families and teams are also gaining increasing popularity year after year, turning the event into a shared adventure for a wide range of participants.
Four distances will be available for participants with different levels of fitness: Stipro Skrējiens 5 km for all athletes and sports enthusiasts; Stipro Skrējiens 10 km, or the elite distance, for experienced participants in excellent physical condition; the less demanding Friends’ Distance; and the Children’s Distance for little strong ones aged 5 to 12. In parallel, the organisers are offering participants the opportunity to compete in teams in the Radio SWH Family Run, as well as in the TVNET+ Corporate Championship, where the strongest participants in various sectors will be determined in healthy competition.
As the event organiser, Maigurs Mūrmanis, emphasises, “Stipro Skrējiens” is not merely a sporting competition but a complete adventure with added value, suitable for a broad range of participants – from beginners to experienced athletes. “This is not a race where the result or speed is the main thing. It is a story about accepting a challenge, stepping outside your comfort zone, testing your limits and experiencing something unusual. It is precisely the emotions gained on the course and the satisfaction after crossing the finish line that participants remember longest.”
Registration for the event is available at https://stiproskrejiens.lv/, where participants can choose the distance that suits them best and begin preparing in good time, gradually returning to an active routine after the winter season. To motivate runners even more before the major race, this weekend, on 18 April, everyone interested will have the opportunity to take part in the “City Challenge” in the square at the C entrance of Domina Shopping shopping centre. There, participants can test themselves on a small improvised course, familiarise themselves with the obstacles in a sporting atmosphere, overcome mini-challenges and win surprise prizes.
