From July 17 to September 3, the internationally acclaimed Baltic contemporary design exhibition “Tactile Baltics” will be on display at the “Civita Nova” art space of the Great Amber Concert Hall. Visitors are invited to the exhibition opening on July 16 at 17:00.
After a successful participation in the Milan Design Week, where the exhibition was included in the prestigious “MoscaPartners” curator program, “Tactile Baltics” will be on view for the first time in Latvia. The exhibition in Liepāja is the largest to date dedicated to Baltic contemporary design in Latvia, featuring a joint exhibition of 19 designers from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

“We are extremely honored that Liepāja and the Great Amber Concert Hall have been chosen as the first place in Latvia to showcase these highly acclaimed design works. The modern yet minimalist architecture of the concert hall’s art space is an ideal platform to highlight the creativity of Baltic designers,” emphasizes Timur Tomsons, Chairman of the Board of the Great Amber Concert Hall.

The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore the latest trends in Baltic contemporary design, highlighting the region's designers' special sensitivity to the interaction of material, form, and function, and storytelling often rooted in local cultural heritage and identity. Visitors are invited to experience how traditional craftsmanship methods in contemporary design merge with innovative technologies, creating collectible furniture, lighting objects, textiles, ceramics, and interior design works with a tactile and emotional presence.

“This exhibition allows a glimpse into the soul of Baltic design – it is an intimate encounter with a design language rooted in the sensitivity of material, form, and narrative. It highlights a new generation of designers who boldly explore themes of identity, ecology, and cultural heritage, creating works that resonate personally and deeply with the viewer,” emphasizes Dita Danosa, project manager of the “Tactile Baltics” exhibition and director of the Latvian Design Center.

The content and visual concept of the exhibition in Liepāja corresponds to that presented in Milan, retaining the selection of works, the overall scenographic solution, and visual rhythm, adapted to the special atmosphere of the Great Amber Concert Hall’s art space.

About “Tactile Baltics”

“Tactile Baltics” is a curatorial platform established in 2020 by the Latvian Design Center, the Lithuanian Design Forum, and the design agency “NID” with the aim to internationally represent and promote Baltic contemporary design. Since its inception, the platform has realized three internationally recognized events: in 2021 at the London Design Festival, in April 2025 at the Milan Design Week, and in May–June 2025 in Vilnius, at the “Pacai” gallery.

At the Milan Design Week, the world's largest design event, “Tactile Baltics” was part of the prestigious “MoscaPartners” curator program “Variations” at the Lita Palace, attracting more than 52,000 visitors and extensive international press attention. In Vilnius, the exhibition was organized in collaboration with “Hotel Pacai” and “Range Rover”, showcasing “Tactile Baltics” in our region for the first time and introducing a wider local audience to Baltic contemporary design.

The exhibition at the Great Amber Concert Hall will be open free of charge, inviting the residents and guests of Liepāja to explore the diversity and quality of Baltic contemporary design.
