Along with adding electric scooters to its selection, Taxify is also introducing a new sub-brand for two-wheeled
vehicles in its app—Bolt—which will help the company continue pursuing its goal
of offering the most convenient way to get around cities, creating an easy-to-use service
platform for different distances, price categories, and customer needs.
“Taxify has now grown into a platform serving more than 15 million people
worldwide, and vehicle localization also plays a major role in the company’s growth,
to which we pay particular attention. To effectively meet people’s needs, we must put ourselves
in their shoes by understanding the existing situation on the streets of larger and smaller cities. This helps us learn about
people’s mobility habits and understand how to make them as easy as possible, and make travel even
faster and more enjoyable,” comments Taxify co-founder Markus Villig.
Statistics show that one in five rides made through the Taxify platform is less
than 3 km long, making it the optimal distance to travel by electric scooter. The company’s
team expects that some of Taxify’s regular customers who previously used car
transport services will henceforth choose the scooter option for shorter journeys.
Taxify also hopes to attract a distinct new category of customers, enabling even more
people to address their everyday mobility needs efficiently.
To use the platform’s Bolt sub-brand service, customers need to download the Taxify app
onto their smart devices, where they will be able to choose between requesting a car
and renting a scooter. All electric scooters are equipped with a built-in GPS
navigation system that provides information about their pick-up and drop-off points.
The planned fare is 15 euro cents per minute, and the minimum service charge is 1
euro, meaning that a 10-minute scooter ride will cost Taxify customers an average of €2.50.
Electric scooters are unlocked and rides are activated using a QR code, which
the customer must scan in the app. At the end of the ride, they can conveniently be parked
anywhere on the street or pavement where these alternative means of transport do not obstruct car
traffic or pedestrian flow. At the end of each day, all scooters undergo technical maintenance and
charging so that they are available for riders again the following morning.
The modern Bolt scooters, finished in the green characteristic of the Taxify brand, will be
deployed throughout central Paris this week, and the company is already actively working to
offer this service in other major cities around the world in the near future. Further information
about the availability of electric scooters in Riga has not yet been disclosed.
