TechChill invites foreign startup talent to discover the opportunities offered by Latvia’s technology sector
Continuing its 10th anniversary season, the leading technology and startup industry event in the Baltic region, TechChill, has announced one of this year’s key warm-up events – Your Next Move: Spotlight on the Baltics informational online event, which will take place this Thursday, 8 April. Its aim is to attract new technology-sector talent from abroad, primarily from the countries of the CIS region, by fostering an understanding of the local startup ecosystem and positioning the Baltic states and Latvia as an appealing location in which to build a professional career or begin cooperation with one of the industry’s leading players.
In recent years, the Baltics have become one of Europe’s fastest-growing regions, with a strong technology ecosystem made up of a range of innovative companies. From early-stage startups to successful information and communications technology companies, they all invest in talented people. The region’s digitally oriented infrastructure, high quality of life, reasonable business costs and flexible government regulations provide a solid foundation for establishing startups and pursuing professional growth. In addition, Latvia’s business environment delivers one of the highest GDP growth rates in the European Union and offers low operating costs, convenient access to the EU market, a favourable immigration policy and a relatively fast process for obtaining a startup visa.
Only recently, Latvia was named the most startup-friendly country in Europe, open to both local and foreign talent. Thus, the Spotlight on the Baltics online career fair will serve as a platform where Latvian technology companies will showcase professional development opportunities, while both established and aspiring specialists will be able to meet potential employers and partners in the ever-advancing technology sector. Digital transformation brings changes to the labour market every year, and, particularly since the global pandemic, Latvia’s rapidly growing IT and technology companies have increasingly been employing specialists remotely.
As part of the event, two leading Latvian technology companies – the financial investment platform TWINO and digital print products manufacturer Printify – will share their experience of building a multinational team of industry professionals. Everyone is invited to join Spotlight on the Baltics online to discover more than 16,000 vacancies and learn more about immigration procedures, remote-work opportunities, government support initiatives, the tax infrastructure and the process of registering a company in Latvia. During the day, participants will also have the opportunity to meet recruitment specialists, receive individual relocation consultations, draw inspiration from real-life stories and learn more about on-site and remote-work opportunities available to industry professionals living outside the EU.
“The Baltics have become Europe’s most dynamic financial technology hub, experiencing rapid growth in recent years. In particular, we can see that many regional fintech leaders, including TWINO, attracted by excellent infrastructure, relatively low operating costs and a highly qualified workforce, have chosen Latvia as the headquarters for their operations. Our sector offers excellent working conditions, extensive remote-work opportunities, stability and security, together with an environment where people can easily establish new connections,” comments Anastasia Oleinika, CEO of the TWINO Group.
“Printify is a rapidly growing e-commerce platform with tens of thousands of customers worldwide, and we are committed to continuing the company’s growth in 2021 by building a world-class team of the most talented and ambitious industry professionals. With our remote-work approach, team members from abroad can decide whether they want to relocate to Riga or work remotely from anywhere in the world. We currently have more than 100 open positions in product, engineering, marketing, design and other departments, and we expect our team to expand significantly this year as well,” adds Printify Chief Technology Officer Edgars Piečs.
