A Mother’s Day Competition Is Announced

The U.S. Information Center of the Latgale Central Library invites school students, children, young people and families from the city of Daugavpils to participate in the “Thank You, Mommy” competition (in Latvian – Thank you, Mommy!), which is dedicated to Mother’s Day. Its aim is to thank mothers, grandmothers and godmothers, as well as to stimulate interest in the English language and foster the creative abilities of the participants.

Participants in the competition must submit a short film or animation in which they offer Mother’s Day greetings to the mothers in their families. The video must be made in English.

The competition is held in 2 categories:

Individual greetings (students in Grades 1–6 and an English language teacher-consultant);

Group greeting (for example, siblings, fathers with children, or fathers and grandfathers together with their children and/or grandchildren).

The video greeting must be up to 2 minutes long and in MP4 format. Entries must be submitted electronically by uploading them to www.failiem.lv and sending the file link to diana.celitane@lcb.lv by May 5, 2021.

The results will be announced on May 7, 2021. The creative works of the competition winners will be published on the website and Facebook page of the U.S. Information Center of the Latgale Central Library, as well as on the website of the Education Department of the City of Daugavpils.

The competition procedure and rules can be found in the competition regulations.

The competition is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Latvia.
