Judge Jānis Kucenko Transferred to the Vidzeme District Court in Limbaži

On Tuesday, 18 October, in written proceedings, the Council for the Judiciary decided to transfer Judge Jānis Kucenko from the Vidzeme District Court in Valmiera to the Vidzeme District Court in Limbaži. Judge Jānis Kucenko will begin performing his duties at the Vidzeme District Court in Limbaži on 21 November 2022.
The Council for the Judiciary also decided to transfer a vacant judicial position from the Kurzeme District Court in Talsi to the Kurzeme District Court in Ventspils in order to use court resources more effectively and balance the workload among judges.

Pursuant to the Law on the Judicial Power, the functions of the Council for the Judiciary include:
- deciding on the transfer of a judge to another place of performing judicial duties within the court’s territorial jurisdiction;
- deciding on the transfer of a vacant judicial position within the court’s territorial jurisdiction.
