THE MEMORY OF ALEKSEJS VIDAVSKIS WILL BE IMMORTALISED

At a meeting of the Daugavpils City Council’s Public Consultative Board, the Belarusian Cultural Centre’s proposal to commemorate Aleksejs Vidavskis in the urban environment was considered. He was a former Chair of the Daugavpils City Council, a member of the 8th and 9th Saeima, and an Honorary Citizen of Daugavpils.

Aleksejs Vidavskis served as Chair of the Daugavpils City Council from 1994 to 2001. Aleksejs Vidavskis passed away on 1 July 2020.

The Public Consultative Board supported the proposal, with its implementation taking an artistic form on the grounds of the Ice Hall in Central Park.

Proposals for the artistic concept of a memorial object dedicated to Aleksejs Vidavskis will be submitted for consideration to the City Council in January 2021.

The Public Consultative Board includes people well known in the community and is chaired by Vanda Baulina.
