For the Third Time, Riga to Host a Sports Day for Preschool Children

On 20 October this year, at the Elektrum Olympic Sports Centre, the Riga Preschool Educational Institutions’ Sports Day will take place for the third consecutive year. 

“As in previous years, this year’s event will begin with an active morning exercise session, or a collective warm-up, which will invigorate and unite the children and motivate them even more to get moving. The participants from each kindergarten group, acting as one team, will have to complete more than ten entertaining tasks, with the main emphasis placed on developing fundamental movement skills— general coordination, throwing, catching, spatial awareness, climbing and crawling, coordination of movements, creeping, jumping, improving fine motor skills and finger movements, running, and strength exercises,” the organisers say, describing the upcoming event. Additional activities will be provided by the creative association “Pasaku nams” and the “Dinamo Rīga” children’s club.

At the same time, the young residents of Riga can look forward to various workshops, where they will be able not only to take part in sports activities but also to learn something new.  For example, the children’s and youth football school “Super Nova” will offer them the chance to test their skills in a challenge—shooting at goal. The street workout show team “Street Warriors” will demonstrate and teach various exercises. There will also be a photo area, where everyone will be able to have fun with the large puppets and mascots, while a professional photographer captures the moments.

At the end, all participants in the Riga Preschool Educational Institutions’ Sports Day will receive a certificate of appreciation for taking part in the event, a special souvenir, and surprise prizes prepared by the supporters.
