Continuing its expansion, KFC opens a new international restaurant chain location at Riga Plaza shopping centre
On Thursday, 4 March, Riga’s fifth KFC restaurant opened its doors. Like other locations of the popular international restaurant chain, it has been designed in accordance with the brand’s global concept and offers quality meals and a first-class customer service experience while observing the prescribed safety measures. The newly opened KFC restaurant is the brand’s first location in Pārdaugava, situated on the second floor of the Riga Plaza shopping centre. It is currently operating in a contactless format, allowing customers to place takeaway orders at the restaurant using self-service kiosks or through one of the food delivery platforms.
As is traditionally the case, the new restaurant’s interior is designed in a modern, bright style with natural wood elements, creating a cosy and contemporary atmosphere, expressing KFC’s distinctive style and embodying the classic American diner values characteristic of the brand. The 97-square-metre restaurant dining area has 64 seats and an open-plan kitchen, complemented by digital menus, self-service kiosks and beverage refill stations. The restaurant team currently consists of 10 food-service professionals who have undergone professional training; however, the team will be expanded in the near future by recruiting several new employees. The KFC menu includes all the favourite chicken dishes and snacks, prepared according to traditional recipes and offering a wide range of choices to suit every taste. This year, particular attention will also be paid to the dessert range, expanding it with various new products.
“Observing residents’ shopping habits, we can see that meals that can be enjoyed both during leisurely moments of relaxation and in the rush of everyday life, while maintaining food quality and consistently good taste, are becoming increasingly popular in the Latvian market as well. It is precisely this positive experience that we want to provide to every KFC visitor. We therefore greatly value the growing trust of local customers in our brand and are pleased to open Riga’s fifth KFC restaurant this year, expanding beyond the city centre and making KFC meals even more accessible to residents. The Baltic market is one of the fastest-growing regions, and we have ambitious plans here to continue developing the brand, expanding the KFC chain by up to 20 new restaurants by the end of 2021,” comments Indre Giedrite, KFC’s marketing manager for the Baltics.
Since last year, continuing the company’s rapid expansion, three new KFC restaurants have opened at the Origo and Domina Shopping shopping centres and the Alfa shopping centre, while the KFC franchise owners, the Estonian company “Apollo Group”, plan to open Latvia’s first drive-thru restaurant at the end of this year, where food will be served to customers in their cars. In the coming years, new KFC restaurants are also planned for other districts of the capital, making them conveniently accessible to all brand enthusiasts in their daily lives, while a further eight new KFC locations are expected to open in Lithuania and Estonia this year. All KFC restaurants are currently implementing special precautionary measures to protect the safety of employees and visitors, ensure the highest hygiene standards and offer contactless ordering and collection options.
