Some of the large vaccination centres, including the one in Valmiera, will continue operating from 6 to 8 April to ensure that residents who received an invitation but were unable to attend because of their Easter holiday plans, or did not have the required doctor's referral, have the opportunity to be vaccinated, and to continue vaccinating people in priority groups.
Valmiera Mass Vaccination Centre, located on the premises of the Valmiera Culture Centre at 10 Rīgas Street, was opened to residents for the first time on 3 April, when 180 residents received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
In Valmiera, vaccination is provided by SIA “Vidzemes slimnīca” with up to four medical teams working two shifts a day. The Valmiera vaccination centre can vaccinate up to 500 residents a day, or up to 3,000 a week.
The opening hours of the Valmiera Mass Vaccination Centre depend on vaccine availability and the number of people to be vaccinated.
At large-scale centres, COVID-19 vaccines are currently available to seniors over the age of 70, residents with chronic illnesses, people living in the same household as chronically ill children and children with immunosuppression, as well as to a new priority group opened on 4 April: residents aged 60 to 70, who are being contacted and invited for vaccination gradually. The next priority group—teachers—is planned to be opened from 12 April.
Only residents who have registered for vaccination through manavakcina.lv, by calling 8989, or with their family doctors, have received an invitation by text message, email or a call from a registrar, and have agreed on the date and time of vaccination should come to the mass vaccination centre.
Residents who have still not registered for vaccination can do so:
- manavakcina.lv (by authenticating through Latvija.lv);
- by calling 8989;
- with their family doctors;
- if their family doctor has not registered for vaccination, at the vaccination offices of Vidzemes slimnīca and Valmiera Health Centre.
