Individual snowdrop planting successfully completed
During the Easter holidays, residents of Ventspils actively enjoyed the sunny weather by visiting Jūrmala Park, where individual snowdrop planting took place for the first time.
From 1 to 6 April, residents of Ventspils were invited, both individually and as families, to continue the city’s tradition of planting snowdrops. Residents actively went to Jūrmala Park to make it even more flower-filled together, planting around 5,000 seedlings of these white-blooming heralds of spring during the campaign.
Sigita Znotiņa, a public relations specialist at the Ventspils Municipal Administration, acknowledges: “The number of interested participants was unexpectedly high – every day at approximately 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., three boxes of snowdrops were put out, and all of them were planted in the park within a few hours. Therefore, residents were primarily invited to arrive with their own seedlings, as the number of freely donated bulbs was limited.”
Residents of Ventspils especially appreciated the opportunity to visit Jūrmala Park at a time convenient for them, as six days were allocated for planting snowdrops and the planting could be carried out at any time of day or night convenient for each person.
