Ventspils Digital Centre Invites You to Learn 3D Modelling for a 3D Printer Online

Ventspils Digital Centre invites teachers of home economics and technology to learn the basics of 3D modelling for using 3D computer graphics and 3D design objects in teaching various subjects.

Everyone who wishes to acquire skills in working with the free programmes “TinkerCad” and “Blender” is invited to apply for the training. These programmes provide the opportunity to create, process and edit 3D models in various styles. The training will take place online, so anyone interested can participate, regardless of their location.

There will be 3 lessons, each lasting 3 hours (12 academic hours in total): on 14, 19 and 21 May, from 14:00 to 17:00. It is possible to apply for the training here: www.adre.se/pieteikties3d. The training will take place online via the Moodle  and ZOOM platforms.

Training programme:

- 3D modelling techniques in “TinkerCad”:

-     - stereometry, creation and construction of solid bodies;

-     - calculation of area, volume and parameters;

-     -nets of geometric solids;

-     -visualisation of geometric terms and formulae;

-     -conversion of units, measuring instruments and learning about symmetry;

-     -creation of 3D objects;

-     -learning terms in visual art – perspective, optical illusion and spatial thinking;

-     -conducting experimental, practical and research work in nature (creating projects);

-       Digital sculpting in the “Blender” programme.

Simulation of materials and lighting in the “Blender” programme:

-     -animation,

-     -visual effects,

-     -works of art,

-     -3D models,

-     - interactive 3D applications and computer games.

Practical work – creating a 3D object or animation for specific educational content.

Applications may be submitted by 13 May. Course fee: EUR 42. The training will be led by Ģ.E. Stepiņš, a photography, video, game development and 3D modelling instructor at Ventspils Digital Centre and Liepāja University. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate from Ventspils Digital Centre.
