Young People from Ventspils to Participate in a Virtual Student Company Fair

The annual nationwide student company event “CITS BAZĀRS” will take place from 22 to 26 April. At the event, student companies from all over Latvia will present their own products to visitors and the jury, as well as offer them for purchase.

Due to restrictions on gatherings, “CITS BAZĀRS” will take place online this year. An e-catalogue will be available at www.jalatvia.lv, where visitors will be able to view the “virtual stands” of student companies and purchase their products. The companies’ activities will be evaluated by a jury to determine the best participants in nine nominations. Eight student companies from Ventspils have been invited to participate in “CITS BAZĀRS”.

Companies from Ventspils State Gymnasium No. 1 (consultant – Anita Jozus):

- Clay Break (environmentally friendly clay vessels intended for writing down one’s thoughts),

- Clay Play (innovative and environmentally friendly 3D colouring toys made from paper clay),

- EVEBIJOUX (handmade jewellery in various designs, which can also be personalised by prior order),

- Laudin (personalised key rings made from epoxy resin that will make keys look more colourful).

Companies from Ventspils Secondary School No. 2 (consultant – Oļegs Mihailovs):

- AquaMusic (an MP3 player that can be used while swimming underwater),

- Historix (a local history and tourism application for mobile phones),

- NIV (aromatic bath bombs in two sizes),

- SensDrums (electronic drums with sensors that respond to touch with sound and flashing, colourful lights).

Ventspils schools have been actively participating in the “Junior Achievement Latvia” student company programme for several years. Through student companies, young people learn practical entrepreneurship—from establishing a company and developing a business idea to sales and even the company liquidation process. Approximately 100 young people from Ventspils take part in the programme each academic year, earning recognition at events of various scales, including prize-winning places in national finals.
