For an entire month, the Ventspils Museum invited people to take a thematic walk, seeking out various museum sites in Ventspils’ urban environment. The Ventspils Museum comprises the Livonian Order Castle, the Crafts House, the Seaside Open-Air Museum and the H. Dorbe Museum, but the museum’s overall operation is much more extensive and includes many sights to visit. The full length of the walk is approximately 11 km.
A map of the sites with tasks could be found on the museum’s website and was also available at the castle ticket office—in total, interested visitors collected 80 maps there. The Ventspils Museum expresses its gratitude to everyone who dared to complete the route and look for answers “about,” “around” or “on” the sites. Twenty-one maps were submitted to the lottery, and on 1 April a draw was held in which three winners received valuable prizes from the Ventspils Museum.
The “Museum in the City” route map is still available both on the museum’s website and at the castle ticket office. After Easter, the answers to the tasks will also be available on the website (muzejs.ventspils.lv), so that everyone who enjoys getting to know the Ventspils Museum will be able to test themselves—to see how easy or difficult it is to find answers in plain sight!
