VID Director Visits Jelgava
On Monday, 18 February, the Director General of the State Revenue Service (VID), Ieva Jaunzeme, visited Jelgava as part of a regional visit. During the visit, I. Jaunzeme met with Jelgava City Council Chairman Andris Rāviņš, as well as representatives of the municipal bodies.
Addressing those present, the Director General of VID introduced the work of VID in connection with the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union (EU), or Brexit, as well as the submission of annual income declarations, which will be possible from 1 March.
Those present were informed about the section dedicated to Brexit on the VID website, which is intended to inform residents and businesses about the changes they will need to take into account when the United Kingdom leaves the EU.
“The United Kingdom has been the second-largest cooperation partner for Latvian businesses, and it is therefore essential to understand as early as possible what changes can be expected in relations with this European country,” said I. Jaunzeme.
Regarding the submission of declarations, the Director General of VID emphasised that additional staff are planned to be assigned to receive and process these declarations so that the process can take place as efficiently as possible and be more convenient for VID clients. It was also emphasised that documents for the reimbursement of justified expenses for previous periods may be submitted to VID within three years.
During the meeting, questions from municipal representatives were also answered concerning the submission of declarations and possible innovations related to Brexit, the tax reform implemented in Latvia, and other current issues.
