Vienības House invites you to take part in the educational game “In Search of Ūsiņš Symbols”

On Ūsiņš Day, also known as Jurģi Day, on 23 April, residents of Daugavpils are invited to take an educational walk around Vienības House and search for Ūsiņš symbols hidden on the building, along with tasks which, when completed, will provide an opportunity to learn about the beliefs, riddles and traditions associated with Ūsiņš Day.

The symbols will be available in three colours.

The black symbols will feature festive beliefs or weather forecasts; the symbols must be photographed. One point will be awarded for each photograph.

The yellow symbols will contain riddles. The answers must be entered on the answer sheet next to the corresponding task number. Two points will be awarded for each correct answer.

The green symbols will contain questions. The answers must be entered on the answer sheet next to the corresponding task number. Three points will be awarded for each correct answer.

The photographs (of the black symbols) must be uploaded to the file storage website www.failiem.lv, and the link to the photographs and the answer sheet by 23:59 on 23 April must be sent to diana.breidaka@vienibasnams.lv.

The results will be announced on 27 April on the Vienības House website and Facebook account. All participants will receive a thank-you message for taking part in the game. The participant who earns the most points will receive a special prize.

The event is organised by Vienības House in Daugavpils and supported by the Daugavpils City Council.
