“VTU Valmiera” urges people not to play kendama on buses
Transport company SIA “VTU Valmiera” has published an appeal on its Facebook page urging young people not to play the popular Japanese wooden toy kendama on buses.
“Passengers are asked to respect other passengers. It is fascinating to watch kendama tricks, and we are pleased that young people are choosing this kind of activity; however, we ask them not to play it on the bus. A passenger has been injured after being hit by the ball, and in the heat of the game it has also struck the bus window,” the company said in a statement.
“Kendama is a game of skill and manual dexterity that originated in Europe but truly developed in Japan. Kendama has gained popularity worldwide, especially in recent years. It consists of a ken (wood in Japanese) and a tama (ball). It has three cups—the large, small and base cups—as well as a spike onto which the ball can be impaled,” kendama.lv writes.
