WINTER SERVICE BEGINS ROUND-THE-CLOCK DUTIES
The Winter Service of the municipal company “Ventspils labiekārtošanas kombināts” began continuous winter duty this week, meaning that equipment units are on duty around the clock and the responsible employees regularly inspect the condition of the streets during their shifts.
At present, three vehicles equipped with snowploughs and technical salt-spreading equipment, one front loader, and two tractors for clearing cycle paths are on duty. We remind residents that streets are cleared and treated with anti-skid material in order of priority, in accordance with the classification of Ventspils city streets into winter maintenance classes.
In total, the municipal company “Ventspils labiekārtošanas kombināts” owns six heavy-duty vehicles equipped with snowploughs and technical salt-spreading equipment, as well as seven tractor units. During the winter season, the heavy-duty vehicles are used to clear and spread technical salt on the carriageways of the city’s main streets, while the tractor units are used to clear less important city streets, as well as public car parks, the courtyards of apartment buildings, street parking areas, and driveways.
We ask residents for their understanding and to bear in mind that it takes time to treat all streets with anti-skid material. We also urge drivers to assess the weather conditions every day, choose an appropriate driving speed, and prepare their vehicles properly for winter conditions.
