The Starting Cities of the Women’s Day Rally Revealed

On 4 March, the long-awaited Women’s Day Rally will get under way, delighting beautiful ladies for the ninth consecutive year. The organisers have revealed the event’s biggest intrigue—the starting cities for each route. 

For the second consecutive year, the Women’s Day Rally will start in two different Latvian cities, which this year will be located virtually within the same region of Latvia. Those Women’s Day Rally participants who chose the Eastern Route as their starting point will gather in Jēkabpils, while the crews taking the Western Route will be welcomed in Tukums. 

Participants in the Eastern Route of the Women’s Day Rally will gather in Jēkabpils Old Town Square and in the car park at 2 Viestura Street, while participants in the Western Route will gather in Katrīnas Square, next to the Tukums Ice Hall. The women are expected to arrive from 8:00 a.m., while the official start (in the square by Jēkabpils Cultural Centre and in the car park of Tukums Ice Hall) is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. 

“We are truly proud that this year the starting signal for the Women’s Day Rally will sound right here in Jēkabpils. I hope that after this event the participants will want to return to us again and again. Thanks to this, the ladies have the opportunity not only to visit the most beautiful places in Latvia, but also to continue a long-standing tradition by taking part in the Women’s Day Rally,” emphasises Leonīds Salcevičs, Chairman of the Jēkabpils City Council. Taking care of the expected guests, the Jēkabpils municipality has ensured that the morning of 4 March will pass in a pleasant atmosphere for the ladies. “Throughout the day, DJ Balodis will be at the DJ booth, accompanying the girls at the start with pleasant music. Meanwhile, the band “Eels of the Sixties” will entertain them with live music and powerful vocals, performing both international hits and our own best melodies before the start and getting all the participants moving to the rhythms of rock ’n’ roll,” Salcevičs reveals. 

However, that is by no means all, as the Chairman of the Jēkabpils City Council invites the rally participants to enjoy the charm of Jēkabpils before the start by visiting the MANS’S art gallery and the exclusive cosmetics shop, taking in the scenery during a leisurely walk along the Daugava promenade, or spending time over a cup of coffee in one of Jēkabpils’s cafés. 

Meanwhile, participants in the Western Route will search for beauty in Tukums, enjoying the charm of the city before heading farther into Kurzeme. Fun, music and starting signals will once again symbolise the ninth Women’s Day Rally in Tukums.
