The Fish Fund has supported two projects of the Preiļi Municipality Council!
Very recently, the Preiļi Municipality Council received good news: two projects submitted to the Fish Fund have been approved, and the municipality will receive Fish Fund financing for them.
Sanita Meļko, project manager in the Development Department of Preiļi Municipality, explained that one of the two projects provides for the stocking of pike in Lake Pelēči in Preiļi Municipality. The total project funding amounts to EUR 2,320, provided entirely by the Fish Fund. As part of the project, 8,000 pike fry will be released into Lake Pelēči this year, and the planned work is scheduled to be completed by the end of October this year.
This year, the Preiļi Municipality administration participated for the first time in the programme announced by the Fish Fund for fish protection measures. Funding has also been received for the implementation of this project—to purchase equipment and technical resources for fish-stock protection measures in the water bodies of Preiļi Municipality. The project was partially supported, and in the near future the Preiļi Municipality administration will purchase an inflatable rubber boat, a boat motor and a boat trailer for carrying out fish-stock protection measures. The project funding amounts to EUR 6,041.55, which is also provided entirely by the Fish Fund. The equipment is scheduled to be purchased shortly, as the summer season has already begun, and the Preiļi Municipal Police are ready to take measures to prevent illegal fishing in the municipality’s water bodies.
