The Church of the Transfiguration of Christ in Cesis is located in the northeastern part of Pils Park. The idea to build a church for the Latvian congregation arose already in the 14th century, when a Latvian settlement began to form in the vicinity of the German knights' Cesis castle, and the Cesis Dome - St. John's Church - could no longer accommodate all the worshipers.
