Livu Square Add an Object

In the first half of the 13th century, Livu Square was the first marketplace of the city of Cesis. It was home to a church, a cemetery, and the Riga Gate in the city wall. In the late 13th century, as the new city began to form, the main street of the city, Riga Street, started here as well. On the southern side of Livu Square, the old and new Riga Gates were located during the medieval period. The old Riga Gate with a tower, at the intersection of Riga and Gauja Streets, was 10x10 meters in size. The new Riga Gate was located on the eastern side of the old gate. Livu Square was accessible from the Countess or locally known as the Princess House.
