Synagogue Add an Object
The current Daugavpils Synagogue - House of the Kaddish prayer, built in 1850. It spatially fills the corner of the block in the city center, with its facades facing Lāčplēša and Cietokšņa streets. The interior of the building has been restored after World War II. In 2005, the building underwent renovation, with funds also provided by the children of artist Mark Rothko, who live in the United States and maintain a connection with their father's hometown. The reopening of the synagogue after the renovation was attended by the President of Latvia, Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga.
